As we are all aware the club has changed quite significantly off field, with new coaches and new personnel coming on board. Obviously we will also be going through some major changes with the building of new facilities. Then there are also the changes in player stocks, with unfortunately some players returning to Victoria, the loss of some players in the national draft and the standard loss of players who decide that Peel Thunder is no longer the place they want to play their football.
These changes will no doubt have an effect on our club, we can use them to make excuses or we can work with them, deal with them and in fact turn them into positives for the club.
I see it as a great platform to start something new at Peel Thunder. The players that play for Peel Thunder this year, will play because they want to be a part of the club, easy to work out because they are not here for the facilities, they are not here because we won a premiership last year.
The support staff will be here because they want to be a part of the club, part of a new beginning, where the light is brighter than it ever has been before at the end of the tunnel. This light will not just be because of the knowledge of the new facilities being built, it will not be because the club has recorded a profit for the season, it will be brighter because we will actually go down and make it brighter ourselves.
I am looking forward to being involved with the Peel Thunder administrators, coaching staff, support staff & players in lifting the profile in all areas of the club, so that we are respected more for our efforts on & off the field, that our image is something to be proud of, not hidden from, that winning is expected and enjoyed, not a surprise and a relief.
We have good people all around this club and I am looking forward to catching up with everybody in the coming weeks, but as our squads begin their pre-season and season 2010 looms in the not too distant future, some football positions are already vacant and need to be filled.
With this I am asking for volunteers who would like to be involved with the Peel Thunder Football Club to contact me, so we can see if we have a position that fits you. We will be a big happy bunch at Peel Thunder, with our doors always open for others to come and join in.
Please contact the club direct if you would like to be involved and ask for me – you just never know.
Regards
Marty Atkins
Football Manager
