Peel prize donated back to charity

IN ANOTHER example of the Peel community’s generosity, the lucky winner of Peel Thunder’s Annual Club Raffle has donated the 2015 Holden first prize back to the community, with disability provider Diversity South the beneficiary.

The raffle, which was drawn on October 2, raised $13,050 for the football club.

Diversity South is solely funded by the Disability Services Commission with occasional grants from Lotterywest, Mandurah Murray Mayday club, PEACH, Alcoa and Zonta.

Formerly known as Peel Community Living, the organisation has grown from one home and five individuals to nine homes and 38 individuals, whose disability determines the level of support they require.

Diversity South CEO Jillian Liddelow-Hunt said the extra vehicle for the homes would mean the individuals and their support staff could have greater flexibility as they participate in their community and personal lifestyle choices.

“This allows individuals from across our homes to socialise and participate in their chosen activities, maintain friendships and develop better community connections,” Ms Liddelow-Hunt said.

“As the Chief Executive Officer of Diversity South I'm delighted that we have been considered for this opportunity and that other community members have seen or heard about us and the passion we have for supporting people with disability to live their dreams.”

Peel Thunder CEO John Ditchburn said it showed how pivotal the football club was in helping to build a stronger Peel community.

“We are delighted that we are able to contribute to an organisation in the Peel community and making the lives ofthose involved easier,” Mr Ditchburn said.

“This wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of Peel Thunder members and stakeholders supporting our Annual Raffle.”

"Mandurah Holden, Shane, Lou and their staff are always very supportive of Peel Thunder and the donation to Diversity South also wouldn’t of been viable without them"

The valuable contribution to the local group, was presented on the eve of Mandurah Holden renewing as the Major Partners of Peel Thunder for another 3 years. Reinforcing yet again how well the community groups in the Peel Region are working together.
