Senior Men’s Head Physiotherapist Role

About The Role

Peel Thunder Football Club are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Physiotherapist to join our High-Performance Team for the 2026 season.

This role requires a comprehensive knowledge of injury assessment and management, rehabilitation and athlete education. You’ll be an integral part of the club’s High Performance Medical Team, responsible for delivering elite-level physiotherapy services to our athletes. The position will report directly to our High-Performance Manager and General Manager Football Operations, working closely alongside the Head Coach, S&C team and trainers to deliver an athlete-centered program aligned with the club’s vision and values.

Season 2026 – 12-month Contract

Key Responsibilities

Provide regular updates, reports and communication with High-Performance Manager, General Manager Football Operations, Head Coach and Head S&C.

Perform comprehensive clinical assessment and diagnosis of musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries.

Collaborate on injury prevention strategies, including athlete screening, athlete management and prehabilitation programming with High Performance Manager and S&C.

Deliver acute sideline management of injuries during training and games including immediate care, return-to-training and return-to-play pathways decision making.

Design, implement and manage rehabilitation programs, working collaboratively with the High-Performance Manager and S&C.

Conduct comprehensive return-to-play assessments to ensure athletes are prepared to return to competition safely and effectively.

Support Assistant physio with management of medical supplies, ensuring readiness for training and game-day requirements.

Strong organisational skills and proven leadership capabilities.

A growth mindset with a commitment to evidence-based practice, innovation and continuous improvement in athlete performance and care.

What You Need

Essential:

Postgraduate qualification in Sports Physiotherapy (or currently completing).

Current AHPRA registration.

Current First Aid and CPR Qualifications.

Minimum (3) years’ experience with equivalent state level sport or high-performance environments.

High-level proficiency in musculoskeletal assessment, manual therapy and exercise prescription.

Strong collaboration and communication across head roles (HPM, Football Operations GM, Head Coach, Head S&C).

Highly developed leadership and team management skills.

Desirable:

ASCA Level 1 Strength & Conditioning Certification

Experience working with national-level athletes.

Experience with athlete management tools or programming software (e.g. Teambuildr, Lumin)
