WAFLW Head Physiotherapist Role

About The Role

We are seeking a passionate Physiotherapist to join our WAFLW High Performance Team for the 2026 season.

This role requires a strong foundation of injury assessment and management, rehabilitation program development and athlete education. You’ll be an integral part of the club’s High Performance Medical Team, responsible for delivering elite-level physiotherapy services to our female athletes. The position will report to our High-Performance Manager and Women’s Coordinator, working closely alongside the Head Coach, S&C team and trainers.

Season 2026: Pre-Season, In-Season, Off-Season (1st Nov 2025 to 30th Aug 2026)

Key Responsibilities
• Regular updates, reports and communication with High-Performance Manager, Women’s Coordinator, Head Coach and Head S&C.
• Clinical assessment and diagnosis of musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries.
• Collaborate on injury prevention strategies, including athlete screening, athlete management and prehabilitation programs.
• Provide acute sideline management of injuries during training and games including return-to-training and return-to-play pathways.
• Management and collaboration of rehabilitation program design & implementation.
• Conduct comprehensive return to play assessments to determine readiness for return to competition.
• Management of medical supplies for women’s programs.

What You Need

Essential:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with equivalent state level sport or high-performance environments (including young athletes).
• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy.
• Current AHPRA registration.
• Current First Aid and CPR Qualifications.
• High-level proficiency in musculoskeletal assessment, manual therapy and exercise prescription.
• Collaboration and Communication – Clear communication between head roles (HPM, Women’s Coordinator, Head Coach, Head S&C).
• Highly developed leadership skills.

Desirable:
• Postgraduate qualification in Sports Physiotherapy (APA Titled).
• ASCA Level 1 Strength & Conditioning Certification
• Experience with national level athletes.
• Previous experience working with female athletes.
• Experiencing using programming tools (i.e. Teambuildr, Lumin)
