Peel Thunder took on East Perth at Bendigo Bank Stadium over the weekend, but it wasn’t a repeat of the 17 -point victory they had in Round One.
Leroy Jetta was one of the few shining lights for the Thunder, kicking four of the five goals.
Cameron Sutcliffe had an impressive 37 disposals, with Traye Bennell and Sam Collins having 26 possessions each.
Peel Thunder’s effort was not good enough, the final score being Peel Thunder 5. 13 (43) to East Perth 11.10 (76).
Alex Bray said the team and their attitude had changed a lot since their first two wins.
“We got ahead of ourselves and now probably just need to reassess and try to get back to that mentality we had in Round One”, he said.
Although starting slowly, Peel’s game showed consistency throughout the first half. However, it was the Thunder who ran out of legs in the last quarter, turning the one point difference at the three quarter time break into a disappointing 33 point loss at the final siren.
Bray said that moving into the next round they have to play the full game.
“We just need to put a four-quarter effort together”, he said.
Peel take on Claremont at the Fremantle Community Bank Oval (South Fremantle Grounds) next Saturday the 6th of May.
