COLTS MATCH REPORT - ROUND 7

The Peel Thunder Colts improved their record to 5 wins and 1 loss after a hard fought 3 point victory over East Perth on Saturday at Bendigo Bank Stadium.

The side got off to a flying start with Kyle Havelberg and Jackson Perry in great touch in the midfield. Lee Chapman looked dangerous up forward and the side got out to an early 3 goal break. East Perth hit back late in the quarter to reduce the margin to 1 point at the first change.

The second quarter saw the boys play some of their best football for the season. The midfield and defence stood tall, and the ball use inside 50 was excellent. Damon Cramer was providing a lively target up forward, whilst Chapman kicked his 3rd for the game leading into the main break. At half time the score was 9.6-60 to 4-4 28 in favour of the Thunder.

East Perth brought great pressure after the main break and started to hit the scoreboard. The Royals kicked 3 goals to the Thunders 2 in the third term to go into the final change down 23 points. In a frantic last quarter East Perth managed to bring the margin back to 3 points with 90 seconds to go, but some stout defending and a couple of crucial bounces went the way of the Thunder who held on for a win against a quality opponent.

Final score was PTFC 12-12 84 to EP 12-9 81. Goal kickers were Damon Cramer 4, Lee Chapman 3, with Jake Howes, Michael Stevens, Tyson Powell, Jarrad Fazioli and Jaidon Kearing kicking one each.

Best players were Jordan Boullineau in an outstanding game across half back, Cramer who was lively up forward, Michael Randall in his first game for the season across half back, Jackson Perry in the midfield, whilst Brad Oldfield and Sayln Stein both played their best games at colts level in defence.

The Colts will hope to continue their good form against reigning premiers and perennial Colts powerhouse Claremont this Saturday at Fremantle Community Bank Oval at 9:00 am in what shapes as another quality game of Colts football.
