ROUND 9 - SENIOR DEVELOPMENT MATCH REPORT
The Peel Thunder Development side headed into the game against Swan Districts keen to atone for a disappointing performance the week before.
Michael Humble and Calvin Thorne were rewarded for a string of solid performances with promotion to the League side. Through injury and illness, there were 9 changes to the team that ran out against Claremont. This provided opportunity to some players that had had limited exposure to the level and included 1st gamers Jackson Capurso, Reece Dillon and Ash Humphreys. All 3 had some positive moments with Reece and Ash building into the game to be solid contributors.
Unfortunately the work rate and tenacity that had been a trademark for the group so far this season was nowhere to be seen and we were convincingly beaten. For our young group it was a real wake up call and reinforces the work that needs to be done individually and collectively to be competitive at this level.
Strong performers on the day included Jacob Perry, who had his best game for the year, working hard through the midfield, Josh Deluca, who returned from a lengthy lay off to provide a strong contest around the ball, Luke Strnadica continued his good form in the ruck and found the ball around the ground while Jackson Burkett battled away all day.
While the last 2 performances haven’t met our expectation, we look forward to responding this week against Perth at Lathlain Park.
