RORY O'BRIEN ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT
Rory O'Brien Peel Thunders most decorated player and one of the WAFL's greatest has announced his retirement following two premierships with the Peel Thunder Football Club.
O'Brien was honoured with 5 Fairest and Bests awards (2 Tuckey Medals and 3 Lynn Medals) the 2013 Sandover Medal, 2016-17 WAFL league premierships, 2004 Colts premiership as joint Captain, represented the state in 2013/14 and was Captain of East Fremantle in 2014 & 2015.
Cam Shepherd, league coach of Peel Thunder paid tribute to O'Brien.
“Rory’s been a great player over many years at both Peel Thunder and East Fremantle. Whilst he has won accolades as a 5 times Fairest and Best winner and a Sandover Medallist, it is as a dual premiership player that I will fondly remember him.
His character and professionalism epitomised him as a player. He has been so important in driving the standards of our group whilst building the bonds that have made our team great. Well done Rory,” Shepard said.
