Round 18 Wrap up with League Coach Cam Shepherd

Q : A great result you must be pleased with the win?

A : It sure was.  The next two games are so important for us to stay in the finals race. The win was really pleasing and I was extremely proud of the group. We had, I think eight or nine changes from the previous week so to regroup and then charge at the game highlighted how the team can come together and perform off a difficult preparation.

Q : Who were the better players?

A : Look, I think in the conditions we have to recognise it really was a team effort. Special mentions go to Tom Sheridan, Blair Bell, Sam Switkowski, Jordan Boullineau, Danyle Pearce, Hayden Matthews and keegan Power. But, as I said it was a team effort and especially pleasing as Jones and Johnson were withdrawn at 9.30 am on Saturday morning.  Which gave opportunity to Brad McGowan and Michael Tassone whom both performed well.

Q : What set the game up for you?

A : Probably our efforts in the first half, initially to keep EP to a 15 point lead at quarter time and then to take advantage of the strong breeze in the second quarter and kick 7 goals and hold them to no goals. The game became a bit of a slog in the second half with scores pretty even so the work was done in the first half.

Q : What's the plan now for the last two games?

A : We will, like all games, review this game then train hard  during our bye week. This will include having a rare training run together with our Freo boys next weekend. Then we will preview our match against Claremont and give it our best.
