Peel Thunder to hold Womens Have A Go Day - Monday 17th December @ David Grays Arena
PEEL Thunder Football Club is hosting a Have a Go Day – Open Day for all women over 16-years-old to come and try football.
Community Development Manager Ben Howlett said the aim of the women’s come and try day was to provide an opportunity for women who have not previously played football before to come down and learn the skills and techniques of football while also having some fun.
“The day is also about educating the girls about the talent pathway from community football all the way up to the AFLW,” he said.
“ During this session, women will be taught to perform different skills such as handballing, kicking, marking and bouncing a football.
“The focus aim will be teach the basics of game through some fun games and activities.”
Mr Howlett said the session would be run by some of the new Peel Thunder women’s teams coaches who will be looking for new talent to recruit for the 2019 season.
The women’s district officer will also be in attendance speaking with all the girls who want to begin playing or just want to play for fun about the many local PFNL clubs available to them.
The Peel Thunder women’s teams will be having their first session on December 19 as a meet and greet with the coaches and a joint barbecue with the Men’s senior squad. The girls will then begin their first inaugural preseason as the Peel Thunder women’s teams on January 14.
