Thunder now taking applications for vacant coaching positions
The Peel Thunder Football Club is currently seeking applications for 4 different Coaching positions ahead of the 2020 season.
The Women’s Rogers Cup Head Coach, Men’s Senior Development Head Coach, Men’s Senior Development Assistant Coach and Women’s Senior Development Head Coach are all looking to be filled.
Our highly successful Rogers Cup side will be looking to win a 3rd straight Premiership with Head Coach Steve Markham taking the reins of the Senior Side in 2020. In what could be a transitional year, with some girls moving up to Senior level, it will be important that the structures that have worked so well in the past carry over to next year.
The Men’s Senior Development team are coming off a tough stretch with wins being quite scarce over the past couple of seasons. The last few games of 2019 showed there may be some light at the end of the tunnel, with a number of players coming through from the strong 2019 Colts Program. This, coupled with the improved development of a number of players who made that step last season will hopefully see the team put a few more wins on the board.
Co-Coaches and current Thunder players Ben Howlett and Matt Piggott were thrust into the coaching caper at the start of last season and managed to steer their Senior Development side to a finals place. In 2020 the team will be looking for some more consistency in their performances and a stronger finish with a mix of veterans and talented players trying to break into the WAFLW League outfit.
To be considered for any of these roles, you will need significant and successful experience developing players, along with outstanding communication and leadership skills. Our club is also focused on developing these people to be respected members of our community and the successful applicant will have the values and integrity needed to achieve this objectives.
