Drafted!

Isiah Winder has become the next Peel Thunder AFL recruit after he was selected with Pick 57 by the West Coast Eagles in today’s 2020 NAB AFL Draft.

Winder, from the Eaton Boomers in the South West Football League has seen his game grow massively over the past year. After playing 18 Colts games in 2019, he stepped it up to another level in 2020, averaging 28 possessions, seven marks, five tackles and three inside 50s, forcing his way into the League team by seasons end.

A player with great speed and athleticism, he has shown his versatility to play all over the ground, using his great kick and creativity to build attacks from the backline, he has also displayed his ability to hit targets when going inside 50 and on a couple of occasions proved to be an accurate and reliable kick at goal from distance.

With his versatility he will fit in nicely at West Coast and will have the ability to learn and hone his midfield craft off Premiership players like Luke Shuey and Elliot Yeo. In the short term his speed and agility he could be used to provide outside run and carry from defence with the added possibility of playing forward and using his power and leap to take strong marks in the forward line.

We wish Isiah all the best and will continue to watch his career with great interest and he will always be welcome at our Football Club.
