WAFLW Round 10 Wrap
EAST Fremantle and Claremont scored Round 10 WAFLW victories to continue their hold on the top two spots in the competition with reigning premiers Peel Thunder also scoring an impressive win on Sunday.
After there was just the one game in Round 9 of the 2022 WAFLW season, normal hostilities resumed in Round 10 a win for East Fremantle on Saturday, and victories on Sunday for both Peel Thunder and Claremont.
The Round 10 action got underway on Saturday with East Fremantle continuing its undefeated run this season beating Swan Districts 7.5 (47) to 1.1 (7) at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval.
Julia Teakle and Larissa Versaci kicked two goals each for the Sharks while Ashleigh Gomes picked up 23 disposals and Versaci 22. Aimee Ralph kicked Swans' lone goal and Lauren Osborne gathered 22 touches and Jess Cox 22.
The other two Round 10 matches took place on Sunday beginning with Peel Thunder defeating West Perth 10.12 (72) to 0.2 (2) at Joondalup's Pentanet Stadium.
Kate Bartlett kicked five goals in the win for Peel and Kira Phillips three with Gracie Fenton collecting 30 possessions, Jade Briggs 27, Jaide Britton 25 and Chloe Wrigley 22.
Karla Stagg finished with 23 disposals for West Perth and Jessica Roper 20.
Claremont then made it seven wins from eight games this season by defeating Subiaco 5.2 (32) to 2.7 (19) at Revo Fitness Stadium.
Ella Slocombe kicked three goals for the Tigers and Ella Smith two while Jasmin Stewart racked up 22 touches, Rachel Ortlepp 19 and Kate Orme 18. Abbey Dowrick finished with 22 possessions for the Lions, Jayme Harken 20 and Tarnica Golisano 16.
The Round 10 results in the WAFLW competition leave East Fremantle on top of the ladder with a perfect 8-0 record.
Claremont remains hot on their heels at 7-1 with Peel Thunder and Swan Districts rounding out the top four both with 4-4 records.
Just outside the top four is South Fremantle at 3-5 ahead of Subiaco (2-6) and West Perth (0-8).
