WAFLW Round 11 Wrap
EAST Fremantle took its show to Northampton on Saturday and maintained their undefeated record this WAFLW season with a win over Claremont with Round 11 victories also for Subiaco and Swan Districts.
All eyes were on Northampton on Saturday in Round 11 of the WAFLW competition with the top-of-the-table clash between East Fremantle and Claremont.
The winner was always going to end the round in top spot and it was the Sharks who kicked five goals to one after half-time to win 7.6 (48) to 3.4 (22) to remain undefeated in 2022.
Georgie Cleaver kicked two goals for East Fremantle with Ashlee Atkins picking up 20 possessions while Jasmin Stewart collected 17 disposals for Claremont.
South Fremantle was attempting to make it three consecutive wins for the first ever time but it wasn’t to be with Subiaco beating the Bulldogs 8.12 (60) to 2.1 (13) at Leederville Oval on Saturday.
Maggie MacLachlan kicked four goals for Subiaco and Nyra Anderson two with Tarnica Golisano amassing 29 possessions and Abbey Dowrick 27. South Fremantle's goals came from Poppy Stockwell and Zoe Wakfer with Molly O'Hehir racking up 24 touches.
The final game of Round 11 took place on Sunday at Joondalup's Pentanet Stadium with Swan Districts defeating West Perth 10.8 (68) to 2.3 (15).
Ashley Sharp, Courtney Zappara and Tamzyn Beros all kicked two goals for Swans with Jaime Henry racking up 28 possessions and Abbygail Bushby 26. Molly Conroy and Chanel Scott were West Perth's goalkickers with Jessica Roper collecting 22 possessions.
After 11 rounds now of the WAFLW season, it's East Fremantle two games clear on top of the ladder with a perfect 9-0 record and now the best percentage in the competition as well as a result of that win over Claremont.
The Tigers remain second with a 7-2 record with Swan Districts (5-4) and Peel Thunder rounding out the top four.
South Fremantle (3-6) remains fifth ahead of Subiaco (3-6) and West Perth (0-9).
Round 12 in the WAFLW competition will now get underway on Saturday afternoon with Swan Districts playing Claremont at Steel Blue Oval, and East Fremantle locking horns with Peel Thunder at the WACA Ground.
Then on Sunday afternoon, West Perth will be playing South Fremantle at Joondalup's Pentanet Stadium.
