WAFLW Team of the Week – Round 12
THERE were familiar faces in the WAFLW Team of the Week for Round 12 with Alex Williams and Ebony Dowson named for a seventh time for the 2022 season, and Kate Bartlett, Ashleigh Gomes and Ella Smith for a sixth occasion.
The Round 12 results saw Claremont consolidate second position by beating East Fremantle 7.11 (53) to 3.4 (22) at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval.
East Fremantle also remained undefeated in 2022 with a 7.4 (46) to 4.7 (31) win against Peel Thunder at New Choice Homes Park.
The round wrapped up on Sunday with South Fremantle staying in the finals race beating West Perth 7.8 (50) to 4.2 (26) at Joondalup's Pentanet Stadium.
The Round 12 results in the WAFLW competition leave East Fremantle on top of the ladder with a perfect 10-0 record.
Claremont remains clear in second spot now at 8-2 with Swan Districts (5-5) third and Peel Thunder (4-5) fourth.
South Fremantle (4-6) is knocking on the door of the top four as well ahead of Subiaco (3-6) and West Perth (0-10).
It all leads to another fascinating round to come this weekend for Round 13 with two games on Saturday afternoon with East Fremantle playing West Perth at New Choice Homes Park, and South Fremantle taking on Peel Thunder at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.
Subiaco then faces Swan Districts on Sunday at Leederville Oval.

Each week of the WAFLW season during 2022, we will be selecting a Team of the Week as well, and here's how the side for Round 12 came together.
Claremont beat Swan Districts on Saturday at Steel Blue Oval with Madeleine Scanlon outstanding to be named to centre half-back in the Team of the Week. She finished with 15 possessions, three marks and two entries inside the forward 50.
Ella Smith was named to the Team of the Week for a sixth time and she took the centre position in Round 12 on the back of putting together a performance made up of 17 disposals, nine tackles and a goal.
Brooke Whyte was named to the half-forward flank after kicking two goals for Claremont in the win against Swan Districts from five kicks and two tackles.
Matilda Dyke claimed the ruck position for Round 12 on the back of having 29 hit outs along with 12 possessions and three tackles for the Tigers.
Mikayla Western was named to the Team of the Week for a second time in 2022 after she also had a performance made up of 14 touches, four tackles, four inside-50 entries and a goal.
Lauren Osborne continued her outstanding season in defence for Swan Districts and was named to the Team of the Week for a fourth time after finishing the game against Claremont with 18 possessions and two tackles.
Alex Williams continues to be the standout defender in the WAFLW competition this year on the back of being named to the Team of the Week for a seventh time. She was tremendous again in Saturday's win against Peel Thunder with seven possessions and her terrific defensive work.
Larissa Versaci was also superb for the Sharks to earn a spot in the Team of the Week for a fifth time in 2022 on the back of kicking a goal along with collecting 21 touches and laying six tackles.
Julia Teakle was another standout performer in the forward-line for East Fremantle to earn a spot in the Team of the Week for a fifth team on the back of two goals along with 17 possessions.
Ashlee Atkins was superb in the midfield for the Sharks to get another spot in the Team of the Week for a second straight round having produced 23 touches, three marks, three inside 50s and two tackles in the win against the Thunder.
Emmelie Fiedler stepped up in the ruck for East Fremantle in the absence of Lauren Catherine to have 25 hit outs to go with six kicks and four tackles.
Ashleigh Gomes was named to the Team of the Week for a sixth time as well earning a spot on the interchange having put together a game of 23 touches, five inside 50s and two tackles against Peel.
Ebony Dowson was named to the Team of the Week for a seventh time having earned a spot on the half-back flank after she produced 18 possessions and four marks for Peel Thunder against East Fremantle.
Kaitlyn Srhoj also played well for the Thunder to earn a spot on the wing in the Team of the Week finishing with 12 touches, four marks and a goal.
Kate Bartlett continues to be the standout forward in the WAFLW competition having kicked another three goals from 11 kicks and five marks for Peel to be named to the Team of the Week for a sixth time in 2022.
Kiara Templeman produced a strong performance in South Fremantle's win against West Perth on Sunday to earn a spot in the Team of the Week on the wing on the back of 18 touches, four inside-50 entries and three marks.
Poppy Stockwell has been an exciting Rogers Cup player at South Fremantle the last couple of years and she's now starting to replicate that at WAFLW level. She kicked two goals from 14 possessions and three marks in Sunday's win against West Perth.
Liusaidh Gilchrist stood out once again as well for South Fremantle in the win over the Falcons to be named on the ball of the Team of the Week racking up 31 possessions, seven inside 50s, three marks and three hit outs.
South Fremantle captain Lauren Vecchio also earned a spot in the Team of the Week for a fourth time this season having produced another terrific showing on Sunday with 27 touches, five marks, four tackles and four inside-50 entries.
Molly O'Hehir has been in terrific form to have now been named to the Team of the Week for a fourth time in the past six weeks having produced another performance for South Fremantle consisting of 24 disposals, six inside 50s and five tackles.
Kaitlyn Roper earned her first place in the Team of the Week from West Perth after putting in a display made up of 18 possessions, five marks and five tackles against South Fremantle.
