WAFL WEEKLY REVIEW | ROUND 4
WAFL
Our League side bounced back in strong fashion this week against an undefeated East Perth on their home deck. Peel controlled the game after quarter time being strong in the contest which led to swift ball movement. A stingy defence was also a feature of the day with East Perth only kicking one goal after quarter time.
Brady Grey continued his strong start to the season with his uncompromising playing style, who along with Blair Bell, Ben Hancock and Clay Hall got on top through the middle of the ground. Tom Emmett had his best game of the season, finishing with three (3) goals while Ben Middleton and Sebit Kuek finished with two (2) apiece.
Jonathon Ietto became the thirteenth player to debut for Peel Thunder after just four rounds of the 2023 season. The Harvey Bulls product is a great example of persistence and constant improvement after two consistent seasons at Reserves level.
The Reserves had a tough loss to East Perth after a strong start to the game. James Sturrock and Aidan Hare continue to lead the way with their work-rate and it was fantastic to have Donnybrook product Scott Tuia play his first match at Senior level after returning from injury.
We look forward to taking on a strong Swan Districts outfit at Home this Sunday.
Go Thunder!
COLTS
Last weekend our Colts travelled to Mineral Resources Park to take on an experienced East Perth side in the second Colts Super Round. Our boys were tested against East Perth and although the day didn’t go our way, there are plenty of learning opportunities from this match. We continue to expose players to different positions and provide more opportunities to our squad members who haven’t experienced many Colts matches as yet.
