Rushy Returns

2022 Colts Premiership Player, Joel Rush will return home to Peel Thunder for at least the next two seasons after a short stint in the VFL with GWS Giants. The club is thrilled to have Joel back in 2025 and excited to see his run and carry back at Lane Group Stadium. 

Speaking on how Joel is feeling on returning home, Joel said – “I couldn’t be happier! To get back, see all the staff and play footy with some of your best mates is what it’s all about and something I’m looking forward to doing. The direction the club is heading in is super exciting and is something I want to be hopefully apart of. 

Joel featured in GWS’s VFL side this year and spoke about the experience – “It was very eye opening. The lessons I learnt and some of the people I met along the way I will be forever grateful for. It was a great experience to be able to put on the orange and charcoal, while rubbing shoulders with some of the game’s best and pick their brains with wealth of knowledge was great for my development and I now know what it takes to make it to that level.

Joel is excited to be coming home and has aimed high upon his return – “As it was my first year of senior football being able to match the physicality with grown men took some time getting used to so putting on some more size and strength is what I’m looking to do this off season. Obviously pushing to make a League debut is the main goal of 2025, making an impact and been consistent at a high level in senior football is what I would like to achieve and to hopefully win a premiership at whatever level that is will be a driving factor for this preseason.”
