A 2024 Premiership Player and a much loved person at Peel Thunder, Jacob ‘LJ’ Hewitt has signed on for Season 2025. LJ had a breakout season, at age 24 with 43 games of Reserves under his belt, LJ played 12 League games and held is spot to be a key figure for our backline in the finals campaign. Known for his energetic nature, caring attitude and ability to selfishly play his role for the team, the Club and LJ are collectively excited for what’s ahead.

Speaking on what the Club means to him, LJ said “It means everything to me, it’s like a second home for me. I’ve spent lots of time at the club and have had enormous amounts of support from everyone involved. I couldn’t thank them enough for helping me become the person I am today.

LJ went on to speak about what he’s looking forward to and the goals he’s hoping to achieve personally and collectively for the Club – “I’m excited to try and achieve the ultimate success again. We are a close knit group and have a lot of good young talent coming through who will have a bright future at the footy club. I can’t wait to get to work with them and keep pushing the club forward.

Just to try keep the body healthy and put in a solid block of work in over the preseason. After experiencing a taste of success this year I am more determined than ever to achieve that again. As a more senior player at the club now I look forward to keep leaning into the leadership space and role modelling the values we admire here at the club. “

Peel Thunder Football Club President, Brad Dean, spoke on behalf of the club upon LJ’s re-signing, “Being the winner of the 2024 Daniel Haines Medal is a testament to how well-respected ‘LJ’ is across the entire club and he absolutely personifies our Peel Thunder FC hammer values.

We’re absolutely thrilled to have LJ re-sign for 2025. It’s wonderful to see such a fine young local footballer come through our talent program and develop into the quality League footballer which he has become.”
