Sellwood is Here for Good
2024 WAFL Premiership Player and one of the most popular members of the squad, Michael Sellwood has re-committed to the Thunder for 2 more seasons at least!
After a strong and consistent season at League level, ‘Sellers’ has shot himself into draft contention, hopefully on the path for an AFL opportunity in time. His season was represented by his typical courageous marking, spoiling and run-and-carry out of the backline. A leader of the Club and respected for training and playing in a heart-and-soul manner, Peel Thunder Football Club are super excited to see how much further Sellers can develop into the future.
Speaking of what it means to re-commit and of how the culture is, Michael said, “I resigned because of the culture we are building down here, the energy and vibe is unbelievable at the moment and makes you want to come in and get to work every session. The future is bright at Peel and with such a young squad we really could be anything in the coming years.”
“The Club has been a massive part of my life for a number of years now. I absolutely love the club and everything it has done for me and my development, off-field as well, the development of my character being around such good people and support staff has done wonders for me.”
Into the future, Sellers spoke about his goals. “For peel it would be to strive to get myself and everyone else better and to bring the energy each session to drive others along. Obviously end goal is to get drafted but loving the journey along the way.”
The President of Peel Thunder Football Club, Brad Dean, spoke on behalf of the Club on what it means to hear Sellers has re-committed. “Sellers is the absolute heart and soul of the Peel Thunder Football Club, the energy he brings is contagious and we love having him around the Club. 2024 was an amazing year for ‘Sellers’ and it is great to see him re-sign with the Club until 2026.”
