Loyal clubman, Premiership Captain, dual Premiership player and current League games record holder (172 games), Ben Hancock, is back on board for the next two seasons. From a playing perspective, Ben had another outstanding season for the Club, starting the season off strongly in the midfield before moving down back to bring solid leadership and composure as we pushed through the finals campaign. Off-field wise, ‘Hangers’ has been instrumental in holding high standards and consistently living and breathing the Club values.

CEO of Peel Thunder Football Club, Paul Lekias spoke on behalf of the Club upon Ben’s re-commitment. We are thrilled that our Club Captain and 2024 Premiership Captain has re-signed with Peel for 2025, his leadership and experience will continue to assist in fast tracking the developing of our local talent. Ben is the perfect example of the values and behaviours we expect from our playing group, and we look forward to his continued influence on the strong culture we have built over the last 4-5 years”.

In terms of what the Club means to him, why he re-signed and the goals ahead for him, Ben said “The club means everything to me, I’ve grown from a boy to a man with this club within the last 14 years. From the development squads since I was 14 right through to where I am today. To have been able to captain this great club for the past 3 years has been very humbling and I am extremely proud of what we have achieved not only in the 2024 season, but all the work over the past couple of seasons to build to where we are now.”

“I re-signed because I just love the club plain and simple. I’m so excited about what we’ve built and achieved. The club couldn’t be in a better position going forward, it’s something I want to be a part of and to be able to lead this group to more success both on and off the field.”

“The main goal is to achieve another premiership, but to be able to lead and help develop the young talent that we currently have is something I’m really excited about. I can’t wait to see the next crop of Peel Thunder stars play 100+ games and achieve greatness.”
