Weekly Injury Update Round 3 / 4

Sam Skinner, GM Football Operations has provided this weeks Men's injury update, headlined by the sad news of our Ben Hancock sustaining a season ending injury.
“From a Mens program, unfortunately scans have confirmed that our Captain, Ben Hancock has sustained a season ending ACL rupture after an innocuous incident attempting to collect a handball last weekend. This is devastating news for Ben and our focus is firmly on helping him through this initial period and through the recovery process. Although dissapointed with the news, Ben has shown great leadership, has already met with specialists and is booked in for surgery soon. This will only help him in a safe and speedy recovery heading into 2026.
Along with Ben’s injury from last weekend, we are awaiting scan results for Scott Tuia (knee), Corey Tregenza (knee), Tyler Nesbitt (ankle) and Kyle Hussey (ankle) before determining the extent of their individual injuries.
On a positive note, we will hopefully see players with league experience available for selection this week, with young gun Will York, Jonathon Ietto and Tristan Bryce go through their final return-to-play tests this week. Both Tristan and Jonathon are returning from long-term injuries, have been super diligent in their rehab and we look forward to seeing them take the field for the first time in 2025."
Rachael Hayes, Women's Coordinator expanded on the WAFLW injury report.
"Unfortunately our WAFLW debutant Cerys Zurek dislocated her shoulder on the weekend which will see her out of action for an extended period. This on top of a broken wrist and broken hand to 2 of our key wingers last weekend, and the season ending knee injury to our number 1 ruck Keely Hare in our first preseason game.
Cassie Davidson also suffered a concussion on the weekend but should only miss the 1 game with the State Game Bye coming up next weekend.
In good news past Captain Krystal Carter is expected to return to the side this week after a year on the sidelines recovering from an ACL injury last February. We’re looking forward to having Krystal’s experience and leadership on the field to support some of our young future stars."
