PEEL’S YOUNGSTERS POINT TO BRIGHT FUTURE
TWO of Peel’s brightest talents have been named in the WA Under 16s squad for the upcoming NAB Under 16s national championships on the Gold Coast in July.
Mandurah Centrals half back Noah Hura and South Mandurah midfielder Michael Humble were part of the Peel side that went through the recent Under 16s carnival undefeated, and both youngsters show great potential.
Hura is a 185cm defender that is capable of running through the midfield, and he embodies the modern-day footballer with his elite athletic attributes.
A good reader of the play, Hura has the versatility to match up with tall and small forwards, and his strong hands make him formidable in the air.
He possesses great leadership skills and was part of the Peel Thunder Under 16s leadership group.
Hura’s competitive drive and ability to get the best out of himself resulted in his selection in the Western Australia Under 16s squad as an early intake player.
At 181cm, Humble is a clearance machine in the midfield that excels in the contest and has excellent hands in heavy traffic in the mould of Western Bulldogs star Tom Liberatore.
Humble is a good decision maker under pressure and is highly rated for his leadership skills- being named vice captain of the Western Australia Under 16 side to play in this year’s championships.
Humble has already turned heads in the junior system, after he was named in last year’s All-Australian Under 15 schoolboys side, which resulted in a tour of South Africa.
Hura and Humble were just two outstanding contributors for the Peel Under 16s side which emerged from the carnival undefeated, and Peel player development manager John Deitz said the cohesion of the team was evident in the fact that they came from behind in every match.
“The team spirit, cohesion and ability of the boys to think team first at all times was extremely impressive and bodes well for the future at Peel Thunder,” Deitz said.
From the carnival, Peel Thunder had five boys selected in the WAFL Under 16s All Star game, with Humble and Hura joined by teammates Tom Boyle, Alex Cohen and James Hay in representing the club at Bassendean and performed extremely well against the best players in the state.
