ACTING CEO APPOINTMENT
Peel Thunder Football Club President John Ditchburn today announced that current Board member Ian Johnson would immediately take on the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer whilst the Club carries out a thorough recruitment and selection process to appoint a new CEO following the recent departure of former CEO Mr Bill Kostandas.
Mr Ditchburn said, “Ian came forward and offered his services in the best interests of the Club to guide us through the next few months. His high level leadership and management experience will be invaluable to the Club and he has the 100% support of the Board and the Western Australian Football Commission in taking on the role. I may add that Ian has generously stipulated that he does not want any remuneration for his services and on behalf of the Board and the Club I sincerely thank him for stepping forward and taking on the job.”
Mr Johnson (APM) is a former WA Police Assistant Commissioner and former Commissioner of the Department of Corrective Services where he was the CEO for over 7 years. He has been a strong supporter of the Peel Thunder Football Club and was appointed to the Board as a Director in December 2014.
Mr Johnson said, “ I carefully considered the current challenges facing the Club and offered my services to assist them during the next few months to ensure we have stable management and leadership until the new CEO is appointed. My view of acting in a role is quite simple, I’m not there to just keep the seat warm but to give 100% and make a positive contribution that takes the club forward and works closely with staff, the Board and Football Commission to make sure we are in good shape when handing over to the new CEO.”
