Media Release: Shepherd Reappointed

The Board of the Peel Thunder Football Club is pleased to announce that Mr Cam Shepherd has been reappointed as the club’s Senior Coach for a further two years.

The Club has experienced its best season since joining the WAFL 19 years ago and finished the home and away season in third position on the ladder qualifying to play in its first ever finals series.  “Cam is passionate about his role and has a genuine interest in the development of young footballers, so they can reach their potential and play league football.  Over the past two seasons, we have seen Cam develop on a personal level and this season’s success is well deserved reward for hard work, commitment and his desire for continuous improvement”, said CEO John Ditchburn.

“Cam works closely with the Fremantle Dockers coaching staff and has to overcome the challenges of bringing together players, who don’t have an opportunity to train together on a weekly basis, to perform as a team and build a bond that sees them pull together when a game is in the balance.”

Another pleasing aspect of the 2015 season is the performance of the Colts side, which has had a very strong second half season and also finished third on the ladder qualifying to play in the finals series.

Club Vice President and Director of Football, Mr Bob Ryan said, “The announcement of Cam as our Senior Coach for season 2016 and 2017 is a message of support for the way he has demonstrated his commitment to our club and in recognition of what has been a great season for the senior team.  We wish him and the team well for the future and in particular for the upcoming finals series.  We have made this announcement prior to the completion of the finals series as a vote of confidence in Cam and wish him well for the future.”
