Peel Hold on in a Thriller

DESPITE being goalless at quarter time, Peel has hit back to claim their third win of the season with an thrilling two-point victory over Claremont at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Saturday.

Led by a scintillating four-goal second term from Fremantle rookie Michael Wood, the Thunder showed great resilience to force its way back into the match after a slow start, before withholding a spirited fight back from the visitors to run out 11.8 (74) to 9.18 (72) winners.

Chasing their third win on the trot, the Tigers suffered a major blow before the opening bounce with Sandover Medallist Luke Blackwell a late withdrawal, but they still dominated early proceedings without capitalising on the scoreboard.

Thunder falter against mighty Royals - Match Report round 15

EAST Perth has maintained its dominance over Peel with a convincing 63-point win in the battle of the alignment sides.

HAMPSON’S FOUR SINKS THUNDER

A WITHERING last quarter from George Hampson has helped Subiaco snatch a 26-point win over Peel Thunder at Medibank Stadium on Saturday.

In a tight, low-scoring contest, it was Hampson who broke the game open in the final quarter with four goals to steer the Lions to a 11.18 (84) to 7.16 (58) win.

Josh Bootsma joins Thunder

PEEL Thunder has signed former Carlton defender Josh Bootsma, as he looks to revive his career in Western Australia.

The 21-year-old was drafted by Carlton with pick 22 in the 2011 NAB National Draft, and comes to the Club with 14 games of AFL experience of the past three seasons.

Bootsma’s contract at Carlton was terminated earlier this month after a number of disciplinary issues.

THE Peel Thunder will host this weekend’s Know Your Score round against Swan Districts.

Know Your Score is a Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) initiative partnering with the West Australian Football Commission to dedicate a round of football this weekend.

The campaign promotes men’s health and raises awareness amongst the football community about prostate cancer - one of the most serious men’s health issues in Australia.
