Tards’ in Teal
We’re excited to announce the key signing of Lachie Tardrew to Peel Thunder!
Tards comes to Peel highly credentialed and respected in the footballing landscape – 100 games of VFL football with Collingwood, where he held their captaincy role, won a best & fairest and appeared in multiple finals appearance.
In the past two years, Lachie returned home to Bendigo where he player-coached powerhouse Country Victorian Club, Sandhurst FNC, leading them to two grand final appearances, all while taking home multiple club and league individual honours in this time.
Experience, leadership and professionalism are all great qualities Tards will bring on-field for the Men’s’ program but as well equally the off-field qualities he will bring to our entire Club.
GM Football Operations, Sam Skinner shared the signing news on behalf of the Club and provided a background on Lachie’s journey to Peel and qualities he will bring to the Club.
“This is a crucial signing for the Peel Thunder Football Club, as we look to bolster our young and developing squad with additional leadership and experience. What clearly stood-out when speaking with Lachie was a burning desire to add to his 100-game state league career. He has unfinished business and is genuinely excited to test himself against the best midfielders in the WAFL competition in Peel colours.
On-field, Tards is a proven competitor, leads by actions and known for his ball winning ability along with clean ball use under pressure. Lachie’s simply a quality person and will help lead Peel Thunder in aiming to return back into Finals for 2026, along with developing our quality group of young local players in our squad.”
Lachie Tardrew shared his excitement in heading West with Peel; “I’m excited by the opportunity to play at a strong Club in a great league, the chance to learn from an experienced group of coaches and to experience the football culture in Western Australia also excited me.
I’ll be looking to bring leadership and competitiveness to Peel Thunder, hoping to connect and form relationships with the players, coaches and staff.”
We welcome both Lachie and his partner Milly to WA and the Thunder Family!”
In a post from Sandhurst FNL, they thanked Lachie for his significant contribution – https://www.instagram.com/p/DPpURubE4fu/?igsh=ZzVoeGIzc3A3Y3Vl
