Thank you, Adam Read.

After more than 10 years with Peel Thunder, including the past three seasons as our WAFL Head Coach, Adam Read will depart the club to join the GWS Giants as an Assistant Coach.

Ready’s contribution to Peel Thunder has been enormous. Across more than a decade at the club, and particularly during his time leading our senior program, his impact has extended far beyond what we have achieved on the field.

In three seasons as Head Coach, Ready led the Thunder to WAFL Premierships in 2024 and 2026, while also earning the opportunity to coach the WA State Team in both 2025 and 2026. His time at the helm has been an incredibly successful chapter for the club and a fitting reflection of the commitment and passion he has shown Peel Thunder throughout his time here.

Reflecting on his time at Peel Thunder and the opportunity ahead, Read said he will leave the club incredibly grateful for the people and experiences that have shaped his time at Peel.

“Peel Thunder has given me far more than I could ever give back. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to coach this football club and, more importantly, for the people I’ve been fortunate enough to share the journey with — from the players and staff to the supporters and everyone involved in the Peel community.

“I’ll always be proud of what we achieved, but even more so of the way we went about it. Premierships and wins are the things people see, but it’s the hard work, the relationships and the small moments shared on the field and around the footy club that I’ll remember most.

“Peel will always mean a great deal to me. I leave incredibly thankful for my time here and proud of everyone who has contributed to what we’ve achieved.

“I’ll always carry the Hammer with me.”

Peel Thunder CEO Daniel Bandy said Ready leaves a lasting legacy at the club.

“Adam has been part of the Peel Thunder family since 2015, and in his three years as our WAFL Head Coach he has helped create something really special for all involved.

“To deliver premierships in 2024 and 2026 is an outstanding achievement, but his legacy at Peel goes well beyond the two flags. It is the people he has developed, the relationships he has built and the standards he has set that will have a lasting impact on our Football Club.

“Adam leaves with the respect and best wishes of everyone at the club and we look forward to watching his coaching career continue at the next level.”

Former Peel Thunder Captain Ben Hancock reflected on Ready’s impact on the playing group.

“We were lucky to have someone who has been involved at the club for over a decade step into the role and continue to build on the strong culture and high standards, while keeping things entertaining along the way.

“Sharing the 2024 and 2026 Premierships is something I’ll always remember. All the best in the new role. I know you’ll absolutely excel.”

Ready has lived and breathed Peel Thunder for more than a decade, and while we are incredibly sad to see him go, we couldn’t be prouder to see him take the next step in his coaching career.
