Mr. Skinner Steps Up to General Manager Role

Tuesday, October 31, 2023 - 12:08 PM

The Club is proud to announce that Sam Skinner will be taking up the role of General Manager Football Operations for Peel Thunder.

Sam moves into the role having previously worked as the Thunder’s Talent Manager for the past 12 months. During his Tenure as Talent Manager Sam worked tirelessly to develop meaningful relationships with Peel’s players, staff and stakeholders.

His excellent communication skills and his tireless work ethic is the perfect fit for the Club in continuing to build on the foundations from the past three years to build an elite football program across our men’s and women’s pathway.

Sam expressed his eagerness to further develop the Clubs Football Program:

I’m excited and proud to step into the position of General Manager Football Operations at our great club. The environment here is truly special, it is a family environment built on connection and driving high standards across the entire club.

I will always support our people and work side-by-side with our leaders for continuous improvement and have genuine relationships with our players, coaches, support staff and all stakeholders within our community.

Matt Rosa’s tenure has laid the foundations of connection and professionalism, which I now look forward to building upon across the football program.

The club is in a very competitive and exciting position and I’m thoroughly excited by the immense top-end talent and overall depth coming into our club. I will continue to foster our strong connections with our zoned clubs, across our Metro and South West zone, alongside our relationship with Fremantle Football Club. I look forward to further developing this with our Senior Coach, Geoff Valentine and our football department.

Our core group of local players are the main driving force of the club, with a strong group of talented players coming through, highlighted with nine boys and five girls being invited to the 2024 State 18’s pre-season programs. Watching the talent of local players like Corey Tregenza, Michael Sellwood, Clay Hall, Reece Torrent, Brody Wemm, Josh Draper & Jonathon Ietto make their WAFL debut this year shows the opportunity available for our boys coming through, along with Club Captain, Ben Hancock breaking the clubs’ WAFL games record this season.

We’re firmly on the path for sustained success - I’m ready to hit the ground running and build on our already proud history at Peel Thunder Football Club.

Sam moves into the role after Matt Rosa accepted a position as AFL Talent & Operations Manager at Essendon earlier this year.
