Recently the Peel Thunder colts underwent benchmark testing at Murdoch
University as part of the WAFL State Academy Program and the boys returned some
very positive results.
Our Tallest Players tested were Dominic Hardy and Josh Richards, both coming in
at 193cm. Josh, not surprisingly, recorded the greatest reach of the group as he
was able to extend to 251cm while standing still, one arm outstretched above his
head.
Josh Mathers topped the Standing Vertical jump at 67cm, while he again topped
the best results for the Running Vertical Jump at 88cm.
In the all out acceleration stakes, Rhys Price shot out of the blocks with an
impressive 0.978 seconds at the 5 metre mark, while Mitch Royal took the lead at
the 10 metre mark with 1.764 seconds and held on to clock a 3.041 seconds at the
20 metre finish line.
At 185cm, Callan Eddy zipped around the AFL Agility Test in an amazing 8.436
seconds, just edging out favourite Joel Beasley who had 8.477 seconds. For such
a tall lad, that is a very good time.
For a second year in a row, Aaron Hitchcock continued his domination of the Beep
Test with a stunning Level 14 Stage 3, but he was challenged by Morgan Spence,
who chimed in with a strong Level 14 Stage 1 to just miss out on breaking
Aaron's grip on the endurance crown.
Peel, as a group, recorded middle of the road when compare to the other eight
WAFL Colt Teams, which has its positives and negatives. While this gives Michael
Pratt and his Coaching Staff a few things to ponder over, as always it will who
can get the footy and then do something with it that will be the ultimate judge
of the 2010 Season. And the Peel Thunder Colts are confident in doing well in
this aspect of the game.
