Young stars to make their mark

THE elite development structures at Peel Thunder have been vindicated again, with six young stars set to join the Under 16s State Academy, following the Under 16s State Carnival earlier in early April. 

Peel’s Under 16s side performed strongly in the carnival, winning four out of five games, and its representation in the Academy is second only to Claremont with seven.

A RAMPANT Swan Districts has ended Peel Thunder’s winning streak with a thumping 47-point win at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday.

Despite sitting second on the ladder, Peel were no match for the seventh-placed Swans, who applied fanatical pressure from the outset to conjure a convincing 18.16 (124) to 11.11 (77) win.

PEEL will have to overcome a determined Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval this weekend in order to consolidate its top five credentials, in what is looming as a very tough encounter.

Peel trio eye off State honours

PEEL Thunder trio Brendan Jones, Gerald Ugle and Leroy Jetta have been named in the initial WA state squad for the clash against South Australia at Lathlain Park on May 23.

The squad was announced by WA coach Darren Harris on Thursday, with the trio rewarded for strong starts to the season.

Thunder secures record-breaking win

PEEL Thunder has consolidated its place in the top five with a convincing 27-point win over Claremont in front of a crowd of 1652 at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Sunday.
